Another potential home burglary foiled

Here is another great example of how surveillance cameras and our off-site monitoring service foiled an attempted burglary this week. Please watch the video.

This surveillance camera is part of a community project. OmniVision provides the off-site camera monitoring service for this community. At 02h58 in the morning our control room received an analytic alarm from this camera, triggered by three persons walking down the road. Our control room operator watched the three as they began assessing the boundary wall of a property for a weak point to gain access. Sure enough, they managed to find one.

Our operator immediately notified SAPS and the area’s Armed Response company. Both responded within minutes. Watch as the suspects realise the response vehicles are on their way, forcing a rapid retreat from the premises.

Notice too how easily the suspects managed to overcome the high wall and electric fence! But not the cameras monitored by OmniVision! These guys won’t be coming back again in a hurry.

A good lesson in home security from this video is that if you are still relying on walls and fences to ensure your safety at home, perhaps it’s time to consider the benefits of surveillance cameras and our camera monitoring service?
